Laser Scanning Workshop at City College of New York

In October 2017, MYND Workshop embarked on an enriching collaboration with the CUNY Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture, intertwining the realms of education and advanced architectural technology through a hands-on workshop. The engagement was part of a graduate-level studio course, where students had the unique opportunity to bring their theoretical designs into the tangible world, constructing their projects at a full-scale 1:1 ratio. MYND Workshop stepped in to meticulously document these spatial creations, capturing not only the intricacies of the built structures but also the dynamic interactions of the students with their work, adding a layer of depth to the academic endeavor.

The participants, comprised of eager students and faculty, were guided through the nuances of converting raw laser-scanned data into practical deliverables. The discussions ventured into the realm of transforming point clouds into detailed 2D CAD drawings and comprehensive 3D BIM models, showcasing the pivotal role of this technology in the fields of architecture and engineering. The workshop not only served as a platform for knowledge exchange but also as a bridge connecting theoretical understanding with practical application, underlining MYND Workshop's commitment to fostering educational growth and innovation in architectural technology.
